101 call performance improves again

Waiting times and call attrition have been reducing month on month and we have seen significant improvement on the poor performance of 2022. With intense work to fill the control room with new staff, supported by the deployment of some Officers, there has been a large drop in lost calls (effectively, those who hang up) and waiting times compared to last year.

  • Between April and August 2023, call attrition was 12.3%, down from 35.5% in 2022
  • In the same period, the average waiting time fell to 1min 38secs, from 8min 5 seconds in 2022

The Chief Constable and I discuss this matter every week and have done so for the past twelve months. The focus placed on solving this important issue is paying dividends.
