Victims and Prisoners Bill introduced in Parliament

The Victims and Prisoners Bill introduced today will put victims’ rights on a stronger legal footing and create better oversight of the justice system.

The parole system will be overhauled allowing ministers to block the release of the most dangerous criminals and strengthen the release tests.

Kent will get £1.6million to extend perpetrator intervention programmes.

PCCs will get greater powers to hold agencies to account for their compliance with the Victims Code.

This is good news for victims and will make the public safer.
