“We’ve helped change the course of people’s lives today”

I was delighted to have over 300 people come along to by first Bluelight Jobs Fayre in Dartford today. It was tremendously well supported by all of the stallholders and the public.

People travelled from as far as Deal, Broadstairs and Folkestone to meet the exhibitors and learn about jobs, careers and volunteering with the emergency services and in the wider criminal justice system.

I am really grateful to the following for supporting today:

– Kent Police

– Kent Fire and Rescue Service

– South East Coast Ambulance Service

– Kent and Medway Partnership Trust

– Kent Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company

– HM Prisons and Probation Service

– Crown Prosecution Service

– Jobcentre Plus

– Victim Support

– Young Lives Foundation

– Independent Custody Visitors

– North West Kent Crime Prevention Panel

– British Transport Police

– North Kent College

– Restorative Solutions

– Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership

There were also lots of extras that people could see and experience, with thanks to the Kent Police Dog Unit, Firearms Team, CSI, Criminal Justice Unit and Special Constabulary. Local MP Gareth Johnson and Cllr Ros Currans also came along to meet everyone and show their support.

The best bits to hear were feedback. A number of agencies said that it was the best recruitment event they had been to in some time; others can’t wait for the next one; and they were impressed people were coming to see them specifically.

I am tremendously grateful to my team for all the effort they put in, North Kent College for hosting, and all the agencies and charities for coming together.

On to the next one soon… watch this space!

Matthew
