Celebrating the contribution of volunteers in Policing

I was honoured to be invited to the Lord Ferrers awards in London today, which celebrate the contribution made by volunteers in Policing.

Kent’s Assistant Chief Constable Peter Ayling and I were present to see Kent volunteer Jacob Baisley receive the runners up prize in the Technical Innovation Award category, which was presented to him by Policing Minister, Rt Hon Nick Hurd MP.

His skills and expertise has helped Kent Police in its response to gangs and serious criminality.

We have a phenomenal contingent of volunteers in Kent, including the award winning Specials, new Community Policing Volunteers, well established Police Support Volunteers, Kent Search and Rescue, South East 4×4 Response, Street Pastors and Angels, ICVs, Urban Blue Bus,Appropriate Adults, IPAGs and the amazing Volunteer Police Cadets.

And they work in addition to Police Officers and Staff, complimenting their activity. Not instead of them.

We owe them all a massive thank you for what they do in their own time to help keep us safe.

Congratulations to Jacob!
