Action against mobile phone use by drivers

Action against mobile phone use by drivers

I spent to morning with the Kent Police Commercial Vehicle Unit observing their efforts to keep our roads safe by cracking down on mobile phone use at the wheel.

Operation Tramline takes place regularly on our road network and has had very positive results in terms of education and enforcement.

I went out with them last year and was astounded with what I witnessed; sadly there are still too many people taking risks at the wheel on the motorway. A number of penalties were given for mobile phone use, as well as other distracted driving. As you’ll see below, this chap thought he could get away with rolling a cigarette, and a cabin crew member for a major airline won’t be checking her Instagram at the wheel again…

You can find out more about the work of the Roads Policing Unit on Twitter here.
